Concept:
I have been obsessed with the game Valorant since it came out. So naturally, I became inspired to create my own “Valorant Style” character. I imagined this character to be about 23. The color scheme and costuming should show that she had a rough life and is from an arid climate. I drew inspiration from post apocalyptic desert fashion and the well developed style of the game.
Modeling:
I modeled the base of my character in Maya. I prefer to use Maya to get my initial forms and any hard surfaces like armor. I decided to make any minor adjustments to proportions as well as personalizing the face in Zbrush.
Hair and Face
In this next stage I detailed the face and created the stylized hair within Zbrush. I used a combination of the TrimDynamic, Pinch, and DamStandard brushes. I would build up the topology and then simplify and retopologize it with ZRemesher. This was my first time doing stylized hair and I found that this method of building up and then breaking down works best.
Final Model:
I unwrapped the UVs in Zbrush by creasing edges between subtools and then unwrapping using creases. This was my first time using this workflow and I really enjoyed it. I found that I had much more control than with the UV master tool.
In Progress: Final Texturing
I am currently in the process of texturing this model using substance painter
